MARS BABY
Mars Baby, is a Cape Town-born singer-songwriter, producer, and audio engineer currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. With a unique blend of poetic melancholy and pulsating electric guitar, Mars Baby is reshaping the alternative new wave soundscape. His introspective lyrics and innovative production style have earned him collaborations with prominent artists like lordkez, Shekhinah, and Kashcpt.
Mars Baby’s music explores themes of addiction, toxic pleasure, and personal transformation. His debut EP Perosin(2019) was followed by Prodigal Son (2020), which featured fan favorites like “Sugar” and “Smoke.” His first full-length EP, Salem (2021), led by the singles “More Summer” and “Over U,” demonstrated his ability to craft minimalist yet striking narratives. In 2022, his single “Be Safe” introduced a deeper layer, exploring themes of rehabilitation and spiritual redemption.
Mars Baby’s 2024 release, Luna, has received both critical and public acclaim, cementing his status as one of the leading voices of the new generation of South African artists and producers. He recently toured Europe with Mi Casa on their Who Cares? tour and won a South African Music Award (SAMA) for his production work on Lordkez’s Testament album.
